2 Graceful Cats - Dot painting

2 Graceful Cats dot painting for diamond painters

Two cats stretched out in a pose only cats manage, drawn entirely in dots. If you have spent evenings placing resin stones, this will feel familiar, minus anything to spill, sort or lose, and nothing that pops loose a week later. You hold a marker and the image grows under your hand.

If you have placed resin stones before, this will feel familiar, only with nothing to sort or lose. Dot painting gives you one marker, and two cats appear.

What is in the dot painting kit

Everything you need comes in one box:

• Printed canvas: firm, smooth and easy to read.
• Guide: the few things worth knowing before your first dot.
• Double-tip markers:
  • 1.0 mm tip: for the long backs and the tails.
  • 0.5 mm tip: for the ears, the eyes and the fine line of the paws.

Art on your wall that you made

A poster is bought. This one carries the hours you put into it, and you can point at the spot where you got the curve of the back exactly right. Hang it in the hallway and it will be the first thing guests ask about.

An hour of quiet dotting clears the mind. A friend with a canvas of their own across the table makes it better still. A dot art painting kit with everything included.

Endless depth from two tones

Working in black and white sounds limited until you try it. Dense dotting becomes deep shadow along the flank, open dotting turns into soft light on the shoulder. From a distance the two cats look almost photographic.

Each finished section brings a little pride. Soon you may find yourself planning a shelf of canvases to collect.
