Big Butterfly With Flowers - Dot painting

Big Butterfly With Flowers dot painting on a generous scale

One large butterfly resting on an arrangement of blooms, its wings spread across the canvas. The size is the point: broad areas to fill quickly, then fine markings to slow you down again.

Your hands do the rest once the printed pattern is in front of you; dot painting delivers a handmade look without the mess.

What is in the dot painting kit

Everything you need comes in one box:

• Printed canvas: robust, with wings and petals cleanly separated.
• Guide: a compact page of advice.
• Double-tip markers:
  • 1.0 mm tip: for the wing panels and leaves.
  • 0.5 mm tip: for the veins, antennae and stamens.

A centerpiece for the wall

A large subject can hold a wall alone. Finished, this one fills the space above a sofa or a bed with nothing beside it.

Settle into the broad wings first, then slow right down for the fine markings; a large canvas leaves plenty of room to breathe. A dot art painting kit with everything included.

How size shapes the technique

On a wing this size an uneven patch shows immediately, so work in one direction and keep a steady rhythm. It is the closest dotting comes to meditation.

Hang it where you will see it daily and remember how far it came with each evening you sat down to it.
