Doves In Winter - Dot painting

Doves In Winter dot painting with birds on bare branches

Doves perched on a frosted branch with snow behind them. Pale birds against a pale sky means nearly everything is decided by what you leave alone.

Soft feathers and quiet snow: dot painting gives you a peaceful scene without paint, brushes or any drawing talent.

What is in the dot painting kit

Everything you need comes in one box:

• Printed canvas: sturdy, with fine, delicate lines.
• Guide: the basics on a single page.
• Double-tip markers:
  • 1.0 mm tip: for the branch and the shaded plumage.
  • 0.5 mm tip: for the feather edges and the twigs.

A quiet project for winter

A quiet subject and a quiet technique. It suits the long evenings of the cold months, when nothing needs to be rushed.

Leaving space is half the craft here, which makes it a gentle, screen-free exercise in restraint. A present for a peaceful friend. A dot art painting kit with everything included.

Birds you barely touch

Give the doves hardly any dots and let the branch and the shadows carry the density. Holding back is the real skill on this canvas.

Sparse dots let the doves glow against open canvas, and the piece has a hushed, wintery calm for a bedroom.
